MOUNT NELSON RE-FURBISH & RE-DESIGN See other ads for more pictures
The iconic Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town is undergoing a refurbishment and Alf Duncan Auctioneers have been favoured with instructions to dispose of the beautiful furniture & fittings that are being replaced.
Stunning Mahogany palatial styled 4-poster beds from the garden cottages are a highlight of this sale together with mahogany drum top dining tables, dining chairs, leather inlaid desks, arm chairs & sofas.

The sale will also be supplemented with antiques, fine furniture & art works from various private sellers. Notably, a 19th Century Cape Stinkwood “Rusbank” originally from Draaifontein farm in Zastron, Orange Free State will be going under the hammer.  The owner recalls his grandmother telling him that she & his grandfather were sitting on the very same bench on their verandah when they were told that the Anglo-Boer War had broken out.  The piece is being sold on behalf of the heir who resides abroad & originally the property of his great grandfather, who was on the board of directors of one of the first South African Blue Chip companies.

Other pieces include Oregon dressers, Oak & Teak wardrobes, Kists, a “Koskas”, dining room suites, etc.  Also featuring on the sale is art by Shany van den Berg, Don Benzien & Catherine Christie, together with jewellery & watches, collectables, Persian & Kelim carpets.
The auction is being held at the Alf Duncan Auction Centre located at 23 Langenegger Street, Gants Centre, N2, Strand on Saturday, the 19th of July starting at 10am.  Viewing is on Friday from 1pm to 5pm and the morning of the sale.  For more information contact Angela or Angie on 021 854 8589 or visit our website at www.alfduncan.co.za
